Jen Koch (B.S. Biochemistry class of 2012) received the prize for outstanding presentation at the Undergraduate Student Research Symposium sponsored by the Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry at the 143rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Diego, CA in March, 2012. Jen’s presentation, entitled “Polyphenols inhibit proteolysis of proline-rich proteins”, was based on undergraduate research she has conducted under Dr. Ann Hagerman’s supervision in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Jen received a travel grant from the American Chemical Society in addition to a cash award. Jen’s travel was also supported by an Undergraduate Presentation Award from OARS. She is a Dean’s Scholar and was supported during summer 2011 by the USS program. After graduation, Jen will attend graduate school in the Department of Food Science at the Ohio State University.
