FACULTY POSITION IN CHEMISTRY EDUCATION. Miami University – Oxford Campus, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applicants with a Ph.D. degree in chemistry education, chemistry, biochemistry, or related areas for a tenured or tenure-track Professor position at the Full, Associate, or Assistant level starting August 2010.

Duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in chemistry and graduate courses in chemistry education research, service to the institution, and directing undergraduate and graduate students in a nationally recognized externally funded chemistry education research program. Appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor requires candidates with postdoctoral experience or years already in rank as assistant professor. Appointment to the rank of Associate or Full Professor requires a distinguished record of accomplishments in scholarship and teaching commensurate with tenure at the associate or full professor level in the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Applicants should (1) submit a vita and a detailed description of their proposed research, and (2) arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the Chemistry Education Search Committee, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Miami University, Oxford, OH 45056. The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Miami University is a Ph.D.-granting department comprised of 28 full time faculty and more than 65 graduate students. Miami University enrolls approximately 15,000 undergraduates, with about 300 undergraduate majors in Chemistry & Biochemistry. In addition to Ph.D. and M.S. degrees, the Department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in Chemistry and in Biochemistry. A $15.4 M renovation of Hughes Labs (the Chemistry building) has recently been completed, including exceptional high field NMR (850 MHz) and EPR facilities, and we have hired six new tenure track faculty members in the last four years throughout the department.
